Last night was so much fun!! We invited two couples over for dinner at the last minute. Well, actually, it was the night before which is last minute to me. David’s sister and husband, who live in Richmond, recently purchased a “river house” here in Norfolk for their weekend getaways. Whenever they come to town we generally get together last minute with a small group of close friends and family. Everyone came over here for make your own pizza night. I had worked all day and this is a simple meal to pull together. We stood around the kitchen island, chopping goodies, talking, laughing, and drinking wine. The pizzas were then grilled and finished in the oven…yummy!

With last minute or weeknight entertaining, our table stays fairly simple yet I still want it to look good. As we were sitting down at the table one of our guests said, “I recognize these.” I sell this fabulous brand of paper products called Kitchen Papers. I keep several rolls of their designs of table runners in the house at all times. Paper placemats (Kitchen Papers, of course) were used as well as paper napkins. I typically dislike paper napkins but these are great for a casual meal. I embossed my monogram on dark blue dinner napkins recently. They look beautiful and are a wonderful “go-to” when I don’t have time to iron.

As you can see the placemats are a drawing of a correct table setting…fork, knife, spoon, plate, etc. The conversation then turned to etiquette and lack of these days. That is a post for a different day!
